The introductory article presents the activities of the Department of Archaeology and Museology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv during the Russian–Ukrainian war, aimed at studying, documenting, and preserving tangible cultural heritage. In the context of large-scale losses of cultural assets caused by hostilities, occupation, and looting, the Department focuses its efforts on three main areas: archaeological field research, monitoring of heritage destruction, and digital documentation of artifacts and cultural landscapes.

Keywords: tangible heritage, material culture, site safeguarding, archaeological monitoring, publication of archaeological data, museum collections.
